Visitors Enjoy History Lesson At Storming Of Stony Point Reenactment STONY POINT, N.Y. - Visitors to the Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site on Saturday got a history lesson, but in a way that was fun. The site hosted a reenactment of an 18th century military encampment to commemorate the daring midnight assault on the British fortifications at Stony Point in July 1779. Musket, artillery and marching demonstrations were staged, visitors talked to ladies, soldiers and craftsmen in 18th century attire, performing camp chores such as blacksmithing and cooking.
