Rockland Teens Shine At USRowing Championships

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- It may not be the most popular sport, but for a group of young women in Rockland, rowing has meant the world, according to lohud.com.

A group of teens with the Rockland Rowing Club recently placed 14th out of 101 teams at the USRowing's Youth National Championship.

Teens from the Rockland Rowing Association competed recently in USRowing’s Youth National Championship and they performed pretty well, according to lohud.com.

Cassidy McGovern, a recent graduate of Tappan Zee High School headed to Cornell University in the fall, finished ninth in the single skulls competition, but her performance with the Rockland Rowing team is where the teens truly shined, according to lohud.com.

The team, composed mainly of young rowers under the age of 19 who have not rowed together in the past, finished 14th in the points total out of 101 teams, according to lohud.com, which reported that many of the teens either row or have plans to row at the college level.
