ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - A Nyack man was busted by police in Orangetown after he allegedly stole a bicycle from the front yard of a residence on Route 9W.
Police were dispatched to a parking lot on North Highland Avenue in Nyack shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, where there were reports of a man sleeping in the area.
Upon arrival, officers reported that the man - later identified as 53-year-old Richard Anderson - was in possession of a bicycle, which matched the description of a bike that had been reported stolen from a Nyack resident earlier in the day.
After the owner confirmed that the bicycle in Anderson’s possession was the reportedly stolen one, Anderson was arrested and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor.
Following processing, Anderson was released and is due back in Nyack Justice Court next month.
