Police said the thieves target parks, gyms, daycare centers and sporting events where folks may have left their pocketbooks, credit cards, and other valuables in their cars.
The "Felony Lane Gang" reportedly has made millions from its long string of smash- and-grab thefts, authorities say.
According to a report by masslive.com, there are hundreds of members of the Florida-based operation.
Gang members specifically look for identification, such as a driver’s license or check book, then they recruit women who are prostitutes or drug addicts to pretend to be the victims in order to cash the checks, masslive.com reported.
Orangetown police are once again advising people not to leave valuables in their cars.
