But several of the Democrats who voted against the appointment say she hasn't done enough to reach out to local NAACP officials, according to lohud.com.

Jennings, who has been acting commissioner since May, may be out of the $102,000-a-year job after Nov. 19. Nine Democrats voted against the appointment while six GOP lawmakers and one Democrat voted in her favor, and officials don't expect another vote, lohud.com reports.

Day, a Republican, called the claims of opponents "nonsense" while opponents also complained Day was trying to appoint someone he could control. Jennings also serves as director of community development, lohud.com says.
