According to Preet Bharara, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, the group were part of a narcotics distribution network that peddled large quantities of powder and crack all around Rockland County. In a related prosecution, the state also indicted an additional five defendants, he added.
“The residents of our communities are entitled to live and work free from the ills of narcotics trafficking. Our joint effort with the FBI, Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, the Rockland County Drug Task Force and Haverstraw Police Department brings us closer to that goal,” Bharara said.
According to the indictment unsealed in court, from July 2014, through July 2016, the operation was led by Jemel Goode of Congers, aka, "J Rock," along with Haverstraw resident Benancio Caba, aka "Bennie Caba," West Haverstraw residents Lasean Goode, aka "Bones," and Edwin Hilario Aneudi Jimenez, as well as Haverstraw residents Sharran Walton, Quelvin Lopez, Duane Yalor, Nathaniel Saunders Sr. and Nathaniel Saunders Jr., and Nyack's Alexander Scudder, who conspired to sell more than 500 grams or more of cocaine, and 280 grams or more of crack cocaine.
The charges are the results of hundreds of hours of investigation and surveillance over the past 12 months dubbed "Operation No Goode," led by the Rockland County Drug Task Force, said Rockland County District Attorney Zugibe.
During the course of "Operation No Goode," police reported observing several defendants participate in the sale of cocaine and crack cocaine to confidential informants working with law enforcement and to an undercover police officer. The group also used wiretaps to intercept numerous communications in which the defendants discussed trafficking cocaine and crack and arranged sales of both drugs.
