PEARL RIVER, N.Y. – Wolbert Roettgers, a resident of Pearl River, died Tuesday, May 24. He was 90.
Born on Feb.21,1926, in Muenster, Germany, he was the son of Heinrich and Margarete Leuters Roettgers. He came to the United States in 1926.
He worked as a research physicist for the Mearl Corporation in Ossining, N.Y., for 25 years before retiring in 1996.
He was a member and past president of Sigma Xi in Westchester. He was educated in Germany and the United States and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1966 with a master's degree in physics.
He lived in Pearl River for the past 59 years. Before that he lived in Spring Valley, N.Y., from 1953 to 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Pearl River; his daughter, Sandra Davies and her husband, Marc, of Morrisville, Pa.; his daughter, Audrey Wood, and her husband, David, of Delmar, N.Y.; eight grandchildren: Corrinne Davies of Morrisville, Pa., Ian Davies of Tamaqua, Pa., Caitlin Davies of Long Island, N.Y., Gwyneth Navitsky of Tamaqua, Pa.; Griffin Wood, Johann Midtskogen, Abigail Wood, and Katerina Midtskogen of Delmar, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his sister, Gerda Hennecke.
Visitation will be at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home on Saturday, June 4, from 1-2 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m.
