Pfizer Boasts Strong Impact On Pearl River, Rockland

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- Pfizer in Pearl River has contributed in a large way economically and socially to Rockland County, according to a report in lohud.com.

The contribution began in 1907 when Ernst Lederly established his laboratories at what once was Turfler farm. The Pfizer property, 500 acres that run between Pearl River and Nanuet, has seen the unfolding of histories of families, says the lohud report recounting Pfizer's history.

News about the Pfizer site becoming a multipurpose one with shopping, dining and other purposes has brought back memories among locals of when Pfizer was a "city within a city" for its workers, lohud.com says.

Pfizer has sold approximately 200 acres of its property to a real estate group.The California-based Industrial Reality Group aims to establish a campus mixing science, technology, educational and retail businesses, lohud.com reported previously.
