Three Separate I-87 Crashes Cause Gridlock In Rockland

Separates crashes on I-87 caused evening gridlock in Rockland during what is one of the busiest travel Sundays of the year.

A crash, reported at 6:15 p.m., on northbound I-87 blocked two lanes at the Spring Valley tolls with traffic backed up to Exit 14A (Garden State Parkway northbound connector). It was cleared around 7:15 p.m.

Right nearby, but on the southbound side, a 6:10 p.m. crash initially blocked the left lane, also at the Spring Valley tolls, with gridlock to Exit 14B (Airmont Road).

An earlier crash on the northbound New York State Thruway caused delays at Exit 15A (Route 17/Route 59, with backups to Exit 15 (I-287 merger). It was reported at 15 p.m.
