Road Work Will Cause Closures Off Route 17

Hudson Valley motorists planning on traveling on Route 208 in Orange County can expect delays and detours in Monroe, as crews complete construction activity in the area.

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, Route 208, over the Heritage Trail, between Route 17M and North Main Street in Monroe will be closed while crews perform the construction activity, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

Crews are planning to replace the bridge and improvements are being made under it for trail users. The current bridge over the Heritage Trail is being replaced with a box culvert.


Construction work is expected to take months, until approximately Nov. 30. Both Route 208 and the Heritage Trail will be closed at the site while work is ongoing. Motorists have been warned to use caution while traveling in work zones and to pay attention to traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
