Beginning on Monday, April 3, NYS Department of Transportation work will begin to improve the quality of pavement on the Palisades Interstate Parkway from the Route 202 interchange in Pomona/Mt. Ivy (Exit 13) to the Palisades Interstate Parkway Book Store/Service Area north of Exit 15.
The northbound PIP will be closed overnight on Wednesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 6 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. between exits 13 and 15. Motorists will be advised to follow a posted detour, which involves traveling from Exit 13 on Route 202 to Route 9W North to Route 210 in Stony Point, reconnecting with the PIP at Exit 15.
Beginning on Monday, April 10, the Northbound PIP will be closed overnight, Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. between exits 13 and 15. These northbound weeknight closures will continue until April 28.
A single northbound lane will be closed at 9 p.m. each weeknight to stage the work beginning at 10 pm. The work, with associated lane and road closures/detours, is expected to continue for several months.
According to NYS DOT, lane and road closures should be expected to ensure the safety of motorists and work crews. When necessary, motorists will be detoured and signs will guide drivers back to the parkway. Closures will be announced through NYS DOT media advisories and on 511NY.
NYS DOT has contracted with Kubricky Construction Corp. to perform the $11.9 million project to rehabilitate that section of PIP in both directions.
The highway construction will involve diamond grinding the roadway surface and repairing concrete. Areas north of Exit 15 will receive new asphalt. The project will also include new pavement markings, the installation of joint sealer in joints and cracks, as well as the cleaning and repairing of drainage basins. Traffic signal loops will also be replaced as necessary.
