Newark Man Took $40K Worth Of Merch From Seven Cell Phone Stores: Linden PD A 36-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged on Tuesday, March 19, with burglarizing seven cell phone stores in Linden in 2023, authorities said. Teshawn Campbell's crime spree occurred between May and Sept. 2023,  Capt. Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police Department said. Campbell stole more than $40,000 worth of merchandise and caused over $13,000 in damage during the burglaries, Guenther said. Campbell, who was charged with six counts of burglary, along with theft and weapons offenses, remains in custody at the Middlesex County Jail, Guenther said.

Police ID Bayonne Woman Struck, Killed On Route 46 In Parsippany A 73-year-old Bayonne woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 46 in Parsippany on Monday, April 8, authorities said. At 11 a.m., Sonia Diaz was crossing Route 46 West at North Beverwyck Road in Parsippany, when she was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which collided with a second vehicle, a Kia Forte, Megan Knab, a spokeswoman for the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.  Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene, Knab said. Man Shot In Newark: Police A man was shot in Newark on the early morning of Friday, April 5, authorities said. At 3:28 a.m., police responded to Astor Street near Pennsylvania Avenue on a report of a shooting, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. Officers were advised a man had arrived at University Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound and is in stable condition, Fragé said. Car Strikes Utility Pole On Route 519: Njsp A car crashed into a utility pole on County Route 519 in Hunterdon County on the evening of Tuesday, April 9, authorities said. A 2.6 aftershock was recorded in Somerset County on Wednesday, April 10, according to the United States Geological Survey. Gazebo Engulfed In Flames: High Bridge FD A gazebo in Hunterdon County was destroyed by a fire on Tuesday, April 9, authorities said. The blaze occurred  at the gazebo in Union Forge Park in High Bridge, the High Bridge Fire Department said on Facebook. The gazebo was already engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene, fire officials said.
