Nyack Schools Shut Off Five Sinks So Far After Lead Testing

NYACK, N. Y. -- Nyack school officials are still waiting for lead-testing results from two buildings, but they've gotten mostly good news for four buildings where water fountains appeared safe from lead contamination, according to lohud.com.

Nyack school officials did have to shut off five sinks because of higher lead counts than the federal standard. Further testing will be done on the three sinks at Liberty Elementary, one sink at Valley Cottage and one sink at the Hilltop Administration Building, says lohud.com.

District officials are pleased that more than 97 percent of the samples were within Environmental Protection Agency standards. They are still waiting for results from Nyack High School and Old High School, reports lohud.com.
