NYACK, N.Y. -- The River Rowing Association is teaming with the Nyack School District to form a new club offering students the opportunity to learn about the sport of rowing.

The Nyack High School Rowing Club will have informational meetings at Nyack Middle School, 98 South Highland Ave., on Monday, Feb. 29, and at the high school, 360 Christian Herald Road in Upper Nyack, on Wednesday, March 2.

A Youth Open House also is scheduled for parents and younger students to learn about the sport. That event is scheduled from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at The River Rowing Association Indoor Rowing Center , 256 Main St.

The River Rowing Association's outreach comes as five of six senior student athletes prepare to leave for college, according to Association organizers.

"We think this is a wonderful opportunity to learn a new sport, get in the best shape of your life and brighten your future through higher education," said Peter Klose, the nonprofit group's director and secretary, in a statement.
