ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- The Fifth Grade Chorus from Cottage Lane Elementary School joined about 6,000 students recently as part of the American Young Voices Concert in the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The May 26 concert featured more than two hundred choirs from the tri-state area who united to sing a medley of songs together. Each school choir rehearsed the concert repertoire independently with their music teachers.

Lisa Kahn, Cottage Lane Elementary music teacher and chorus director, began preparing the Fifth Grade Chorus in February.

All of the choirs rehearsed together under the leadership of Francisco Nunez. Songs included "Sabor Medley," "Invincible," "Power in Me," "Adiemus," "Pop Medley 2016," "You Raise Me Up," "Lean on Me," and "Don't Stop Believin'."

The student chorus was accompanied by professional musicians who have played with famous rock musicians and have also performed in Broadway orchestras.

"The Cottage Lane fifth-graders had an amazing time, from moving and dancing with the music to taking pictures and selfies as they sang", reported Kahn.
