ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A West Haverstraw woman caught driving erratically, weaving in and out of traffic on Saturday, May 20, in Pearl River was driving drunk, Orangetown Police said.

Evelyn Wetz, 42, was pulled over after the police department received a report of an erratic driver and officers were able to track her down on Veterans Memorial Highway around 9:20 p.m., police said.

When officers approached the car they could smell a strong odor of alcohol and reported that Wetz had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, police added.

Wetz consented to a series of field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was arrested and charged with DWI. She later refused to take a breathalyzer test.

She was released and is due to appear in court on June 7.
