An Orange County woman was busted by police in Rockland for felony DWI after being tracked down following a hit-and-run in Ramapo.

Members of the Orangetown Police Department were dispatched to Route 45 and Williams area in the Hillcrest neighborhood at approximately 11 p.m. on Thursday night, where there was a reported hit-and-run accident.

Police said that upon arrival, officers determined that one vehicle had rear-ended another and proceeded to leave the scene. During a canvas of the area, officers tracked down the vehicle, which was being driven by a 44-year-old woman from Washingtonville, whose name was not disclosed.

The driver proceeded to fail several Field Sobriety Tests conducted by police and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Due to a previous conviction for the same offense, the charges were upgraded to a felony, while she was also cited for leaving the scene of an accident. She is currently in police custody and awaiting arraignment at Ramapo Justice Court. No injuries were reported in the crash.
