Troopers responded to South Road and Main Street in the town of Pleasant Valley for a fight in progress at approximately 9 a.m. on Monday, May 7.

The fight broke out after 18-year-old Kyle G. Ostrom of Clinton had burglarized a local business, and the owners were attempting to detain him, according to state police.

Ostrom struck one individual in the head with a rock prior to the arrival of patrols, police said.

During the investigation, it was also determined that Ostrom had stolen, and used credit cards for his own gain related to a prior incident.

Ostrom was charged with burglary and assault, both Class D felonies, and grand larceny, a Class E felony.

Ostrom was arraigned before the town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.

State police did not identify the name of the business involved in the burglary.
