South Nyack Firefighter Helps Police Officer Following Accident

SOUTH NYACK, N.Y. -- A South Nyack-Grand View police officer is recovering from a serious car accident that occurred on Monday, July 18, when he was hit by a wrong-way driver on Prospect Street.

According to the department's Facebook page, the officer's vehicle was slammed into by a car that was driving the wrong way down a one-way street, smashing the police car into a tree. 

Nyack Fire Department Firefighter Robert White, who happened to be in the area responding to an unrelated fire call, stopped at the scene and performed first aid, while using the wrecked car's radio to call police and ask for an ambulance. The officer received non-life threatening injuries, the department said on Facebook post.
