RAMAPO, N. Y. -- A 27-year-old Spring Valley man is facing a forgery charge after a Ramapo police officer noticed, during a traffic stop on Tuesday, March 1, that the emissions sticker on his car appeared to be fake.
The officer saw the Toyota Sienna travelling on West Eckerson Road with the white sticker. During the traffic stop, the officer saw a trace of pink, police said.
The driver was charged with possession of a forged instrument and is scheduled to appear before Ramapo Court to answer the charge later in March, police said.
Also on Tuesday, police responded to 148 calls for service, including eight medical emergencies, one fire nand 10 alarm activations, police said. Police made a total of eight arrests for charges including contempt, harassment and operating a vehicle on a suspended license, police said.
Police also investigated three accidents, and none involved injuries. Two accidents were on Red Schoolhouse Road in Chestnut Ridge, and were property damage only. One was a hit-and-run on Orange Turnpike in Sloatsburg, police said.
