John Murray, 51, resigned Friday after spending Thursday night in jail for contempt after an afternoon appearance in the Spring Valley Justice Court. News 12 Hudson Valley is reporting that Murray is accused of being drunk during that court appearance.

Murray was in court while representing a woman on a DWI charge. Lohud.com reports that Murray was charged with a misdemeanor DWI count, though details weren't clear.
