Pedestrian From Nyack In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Lexus

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Nyack resident is in critical condition after being struck by an 81-year-old Wesley Hills resident Monday on New Hempstead Road in New Hempstead, according to Ramapo Police.

The crash, which occurred around 12:55 p.m., near the intersection of Route 45 in the Village of New Hempstead, when the Wesley Hills man, driving a 2007 Lexus, struck the 57-year-old Nyack resident who was walking along the roadway, said Lt. Robert Lancia.

The driver remained on scene, and the pedestrian was transported to Nyack Hospital via Hatzolah Ambulance where he remains in critical condition. Lancia said.

 The accident is under investigation by the Ramapo Accident Investigations Unit and the Ramapo Detective Bureau, and there are no criminal charges at this time.
