ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- A pair of men from out of the area were nabbed trying to cash a fraudulent check at a local bank on Saturday in Orangeburg, according to the Orangetown Police Department.
The two, Brandon Samuel, 25, of Bloomfield, N.J., and Tydell Tribble, 26, of New York City, were arrested after officers managed to track them down after they attempted to cash a fraudulent check at a local bank, police said.
According to police, the two walked into the bank around 1:07 p.m. and attempted to cash the fraudulent check. When the teller became suspicious the two fled the bank, leaving behind the check and their fake identification. A witness was able to provide a license plate and vehicle description of the car they were driving, police said.
A short time later, an Orangetown officer patrolling in the Village of Nyack located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop where both men were arrested.
They were charged with possession of a forged instrument, conspiracy, and petit larceny. They are being held at the Rockland County Jail on $7,500 bail. They are due to appear in court on Wednesday, March 22.
