ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- Orangetown police have charged a 26-year-old resident of Caldwell, N.J., with larceny.
A woman was allegedly observed by employees of ShopRite in Pearl River leaving the store with about $250 worth of merchandise without paying for it, police report.
The suspect, identified as Alexis DePalma-Wereschagin, was arrested about 6:40 p.m. Thursday, according to officials.
She was transported to Orangetown police headquarters, where she was charged with petty larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both misdemeanors, police report.
The defendant was released on bail and is due back in Orangetown Justice Court on Wednesday, May 11, to answer the charges against her, officials report.
