ORANGETOWN, N.Y. – Orangetown police arrested two men during separate incidents last week, charging each with criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to authorities.

Matthew Marrano, 28, of West Nyack, was arrested on Crooked Hill Road in Pearl River during a 10:40 p.m. traffic stop on July 1, according to police.

Marrano was pulled over for an alleged traffic violation. During the course of a brief investigation at the scene, officers found him in possession of what is alleged to be heroin, according to authorities.

Marrano was processed at Orangetown police headquarters in Orangeburg and released without bail, according to police.

Marrano faces several traffic violations and one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, according to police. He is to answer to the charges in Orangetown Town Court on Wednesday.

Four days later, about 3:15 a.m. July 5, a 35-year-old Goshen man was arrested while also in possession of a controlled substance, according to police.

Michael Moran was “acting in a violent and disorderly fashion,” while on Main Street in Nyack, according to police.

When officers attempted to calm the situation, Moran was found to be in possession of an alleged controlled substance, according to authorities, who did not specify which drug Moran is accused of holding.

Moran was taken into police custody and transported to police headquarters and later released on an unspecified bail amount, according to authorities.

Moran faces a disorderly conduct violation and one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to police. He is to answer to the charges in Nyack Village Court on Saturday.
