Off-Duty Rockland Officer Charged Under Leandra's Law Due Back In Court

A Spring Valley police officer who was off-duty when he was charged Sunday with DWI under Leandra's Law and drug possession is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, April 27 in the Town of Chester.

Marc Miller, 46, of Nanuet, was arrested after the State Police in Monroe, began receiving 911 calls from concerned drivers about an impaired driver on Route 17, said Trooper Steven Nevel, spokesman for the state police.

Troopers located Miller, a 16-year veteran of the force, at a local gas station in the Town of Chester where he appeared to be disoriented and impaired, Nevel said. 

A search of his vehicle turned up cocaine, Nevel said.

Miller was traveling with a child under the age of 15 in the back seat of the vehicle, he added.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance; DWI/Drugs and aggravated DWI with a child, state police said.

Miller, who is currently on administrative leave, was processed and released.
