ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Orangetown police have arrested a 48-year-old resident of Nanuet on a criminal contempt charge, authorities said.
The arrest came about after an alleged domestic dispute between the suspect, identified as Robert Gandolfo, and a female at ShopRite on Middletown Road in Pearl River on Aug.1, about 6:31 p.m., police report.
Police determined that the female Gandolfo was arguing with had a valid order of protection against him that required him to stay at least 100 yards away from her at all times, according to officials.
Gandolfo was arrested for violating the order and was taken back to Orangetown Police Headquarters; he was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor, police reported.
He was arraigned and released, and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to answer the charge, police report.
