Man Kicks Down Door, Threatens Victims With Knife, Orangetown Police Say

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - A Rockland County man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly kicking down the door of a Nyack apartment and threatening two residents with a knife.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, police were dispatched to the Rockland Garden Apartments, where 36-year-old Spring Valley resident Patrick Sylvestre reportedly forcefully broke into a residence with a weapon.

According to police, officers, observed Sylvestre running into an apartment that had its front door heavily damaged. The subsequent investigation determined that he had allegedly kicked down the front door of the apartment of a female acquaintance and “menaced” two occupants inside the residence with a knife.

Sylvestre was arrested at the scene and charged with felony counts of burglary, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a weapon. He was also charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor. He was processed, arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. He is due back in Nyack Justice Court later this year.
