ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --  A New City man is behind bars after he illegally entered a Nyack home on Sunday, forcibly restrained the resident and held the victim, said Orangetown Police.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. when police responded to a call for help from a friend of the person who was being held, said Orangetown Police.

According to police, Perry Grandis of New City entered the home and then forcibly restrained the resident, took their cell phone to prevent them from contacting police. At some point during the home invasion, the resident was able to call a friend who then called the police.

When Orangetown Police arrived, Grandis had already left the area, but officers were able to locate him a short distance away, police said.

He was charged with felony burglary, criminal contempt, unlawful imprisonment, criminal mischief, and harassment.

Grandis is being held at the Rockland County Jail on $25,000 bail.
