An investigation was launched on Nov. 10 when 27-year-old Manhattan resident Craig McMillian, Jr. allegedly entered the Key Bank location on Dutch Hill Road and presented a forged check associated with the account of one of the branch’s clients.

Police said that after the check was cashed, the client realized the deduction from his account and notified the department.

Detectives launched an investigation and were able to obtain a photo of McMillian making the transaction. With an assist from police in Palisades Park and Wyckoff, N.J., they developed a suspect, which led them to McMillian.

McMillian turned himself into police custody on Thursday and was charged with felony counts of grand larceny and criminal possession of a forged instrument. He was released on $1,000 bail following arraignment and is due back in Orangetown Justice Court on Dec. 4 to answer the charges.
