ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A 19-year-old female has been charged with menacing after swinging a lacrosse stick during a fight with a male student at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill on Saturday, Orangetown Police said.

Officers responded to a report of a possible fight in a dorm room at about 11:10 p.m., when they ascertained that Kayla Hampton of Huntington, New York entered the room and began breaking some of his belongings before grabbing the lacrosse stick and swinging it at the unidentified male, police said.

Hampton was charged with menacing in the second degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, police said. She was arraigned and is scheduled to return to court Feb. 27.
