The crash occurred around 5:07 p.m. Friday when Chief Raymond Canario, 41, was on his way to a fire when he struck another vehicle, police said.
The chief was traveling southbound on Route 306 when he collided with a 2016 Toyota being driven by a 52-year-old Spring Valley resident, said Ramapo Police.
The Toyota was also traveling south on Route 306 and was attempting to turn left onto Ralph Boulevard. After striking the Toyota the chief’s command vehicle struck a telephone pole before going down an embankment, Ramapo police said.
Canario was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by Spring Hill Ambulance with head and shoulder pain. The other driver was not injured.
The Monsey Fire Department also responded to the scene.
No tickets were issued and the accident remains under investigation.
