Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, officers stopped Ridgewood resident Juan Orellana for traffic violations on East Crooked Hill Road when he was spotted by police crossing over the double yellow line.

Police said that during the subsequent stop, Orellana had “bloodshot eyes, poor motor skills and an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath.” He proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and refused a breathalyzer. He was subsequently arrested for a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated.

Orellana was arraigned in Orangetown Court and is due back on Dec. 20 to answer the charge.
