ORANGETOWN, N.J. – An Orangeburg motorist was charged with DWI after registering more than double the legal limit on a breath test, Orangetown police said Wednesday.
Stopped for a traffic violation on Route 303 in Orangeburg, 33-year-old Tung Ma smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, Sgt. Kirk Vega said.
Ma “consented to numerous field sobriety tests, which he failed,” Vega said, adding that he also registered more than twice the legal limit on a breath test at headquarters.
Ma was jailed pending a hearing on charges of DWI and aggravated driving while intoxicated, both felonies, the sergeant said.
Orangetown police also made a DWI arrest in Nyack just after 4 a.m. Friday, Vega said. Julian Vega, 27, was released pending a Jan. 10 hearing in Nyack Justice Court on a misdemeanor DWI charge, he said.
