Shortly before 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, members of the Orangetown Police Department arrested Congers resident Giovanni Olivieri, who has been charged with misdemeanor counts of second-degree criminal trespassing and criminal mischief following the incident.
Police said that officers were dispatched to the Nyack Plaza Apartments for a service call when it was reported that someone had kicked in the front door of a residence and unlawfully entered the apartment.
Nyack Plaza Apartments contains 174 units, 173 of which have been designated as Section 8 assisted living units.
According to police, “the party” - later identified as Olivieri - was subsequently chased out of the apartment by a resident. Olivieri would later be pointed out to responding officers by a witness.
Olivieri was arrested and arraigned in Nyack Justice Court. He was remanded to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $500 bail. Olivieri is due back in court later this year.
