Walter R. Baxa, 86, Orangeburg Veteran Of Korean War

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- Walter R. Baxa, a Korean War veteran and Orangeburg resident, died Friday, Nov. 4. He was 86.

Baxa was known for his love of family, sense of humor, generosity and skill with crossword, jigsaw, jumble and Sudoku puzzles.

He was predeceased by his wife, Germaine; a daughter, Diane Ambrosini, and grandson Christopher Ferrantello.

He is survived by his son, Walter, and daughter-in-law, Patricia; and a daughter, Suzanne Shelofsky, and son-in-law, Cary.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kristen Simpson, Robert Baxa, John Giusto, Diana Cusie and Melissa Ferrantello.

The family extended special thanks to the Dominican Sisters of Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne for their care and support.

A Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Nov. 8, at St. Catharine of Alexandria Church in Blauvelt.

Arrangement were handled by the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan.
