ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- Martha Mian, a resident of Orangeburg, died Monday, March 21. She was 88.
She was born in 1927 to Paulo and Francesca Gattuso.
She was heavily involved in community activities, serving the St. Catharine’s Church Guild, the Blauvelt-Orangeburg Seniors and the Romanesque Lodge of Blauvelt, among other organizations. She received numerous honors from congressional, state and local officials.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula (Sebastian), of Middletown Conn.; her son Peter, (Susan); and five grandchildren, Nicholas (Jessica), Alessandra (Zwade), Paul (Jayme), Francesca, and Julia (Thomas).
She was predeceased by her husband, Attilio Mian.
Visiting hours were at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan. A funeral hass was held at St. Catharine’s Church in Blauvelt. Interment followed at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her name be made to St. Catharine’s Church in Blauvelt or the American Cancer Society.
