June Pitts, 87, Pearl River Resident

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. — Longtime Pearl River resident June Pitts died on Sunday, May 8. She was 87.

Pitts was born on June 6, 1928, in Jamaica, N.Y., to William and Elizabeth Potter.

A Pearl River resident for 67 years, Pitts was a registered nurse after graduating from St. John's School of Nursing in 1949 and worked at the Pearl River Hospital, Nyack Hospital and Summit Park Hospital before retiring in 1986.

Pitts is survived by her sons Michael and wife, Patricia; Jeffrey and his wife, Lynn; and Douglas and his wife, Donna; and grandchildren, Jonathan, Jesse, Jeremy, Brittany, Daniel and Tyler.

She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin, and a grandson, Kyle.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc., 100 Franklin Ave., in Pearl River.

Burial will follow at Germonds Cemetery, in Bardonia.
