Elizabeth Swenda Lynch, 94, Longtime Pearl River Resident

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- Longtime Pearl River resident Elizabeth Swenda Lynch died on Monday, Feb. 15. She was 94.

Born in McAdoo, Pennsylvania, Lynch was the youngest of 12 children. She was the valedictorian of McAdoo High School. She joined her older sisters in New York in 1940 and held jobs in advertising and other businesses. At one point, she also taught dance in the evenings.

"She will be remembered for her dignity and sophistication, her beautiful sense of fashion and the care and love she brought to all the things that she did," according to information provided by the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home.

Lynch is survived by her daughter Lisa of New York, New York, her son Thomas and daughter-in-law Nancy of Greenwich, Connecticut, her grandson Collin of New York, New York and her nephew and godson Keith of Hartford, Connecticut.

She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Lynch; parents Michael Swenda and Elizabeth Yuhas; brothers Michael, Steve, Andrew, Peter and Paul; and sisters Anna, Mary, Margaret and Helen.

Visiting hours will be from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Ave., in Pearl River. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Friday, Feb. 19, at St. Aedan's Church, in Pearl River followed by burial at the Pearl River Cemetery.
