Edward Francis Clinton, 88, Of Pearl River

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- Edward Francis Clinton died Sunday Aug. 7. He was 88. 

Born and raised in the Bronx, he moved with his family to Pearl River in 1960.

Cinton served in the U.S. Navy at age 17 as a seaman first class in World War II. He continued his career by becoming a detective for the NYPD. He was one of the founding members and past president of The Rockland County Shields. 

He is survived by his wife, Frances Clinton; sons, Edward Jr., Richard Clinton, Daniel Clinton, Joseph Clinton, James Clinton and John Clinton; 12 grandchildren, Tara, Alexandra, Andrew, Joe, Jimmy, Jacqueline, Laura, Kelly, Sean, Gabrielle, Victoria and Erin;  brother, James Clinton of Florida; brother-in-law, Richard Makowski (Rita), formerly of Pearl River; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Margaret's Church, 115 W. Central Ave., Pearl River,. Burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont.
