NYACK, N.Y. -- Carolyn Vernum Maurizi, 60, of Nyack, died Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Vernum Maurizi was born on Sept. 9, 1956, in New York and graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 1974.
She was a traveler and adventurer and loved taking care of animals and people. She also enjoyed fixing things, taking photos, and handing out vegetables from her garden to her neighbors.
Her family and friends will miss her warmth, sense of humor, her spontaneity and laughter.
She is survived by her daughters, Brook Frye and Nicole Frye; father, Robert Vernum; sisters, Laura Vernum and Beth Brewster; brother, Robert Vernum. She is pre-deceased by her mother, Elizabeth Vernum, and her husband, John Sarvent.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
