On Wednesday, April 26, “Tom the Turkey” was spotted by a vigilant police officer outside of Maki Maki on South Main Street in New City, where he was taking a stroll downtown, looking to get into the restaurant before it opened this afternoon.

The suspect is considered a "flight" risk.

According to livescience.com, wild turkeys, who feed on the ground, can fly up to 55 mph in short bursts.

The turkey seemingly got away from police, and members of the Clarkstown Police Department have asked anyone that may spot our fine-feathered friend in town to give them a call at (845) 639-5800.
