The event brought together Rockland County Executive Ed Day with fellow elected officials and local Jewish leaders. Together they lit four candles for the first four nights of Hanukkah, which began Dec. 6.
"Hanukkah is not just a time we celebrate miracles, we celebrate hope," Day said.
The gathering was preceded by the dedication of a crèche, demonstrating the diversity and freedom of religion.
