ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- The Orangetown Police Department is offering a free Narcan training session that will teach people how to use the medication to save someone who is overdosing on heroin or another opioid.

Presented by South Orangetown Community Awareness of Substance Abuse and conducted by the Daytop Village drug addiction treatment center, the event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 in the Tappan Zee High School library, 15 Dutch Hill Road, Orangeburg, according to organizers.

Upon completion of the program, each participant will be given a free Narcan kit, organizers said, adding that space in the program is limited.
