Two men and a woman were killed after the car plowed over a tree before bursting into flames and landing against the front porch of the home in Dutchess County, according to state police.

The Dutchess County crash occurred around 10:44 p.m. Monday at Route 82 and Bulls Head Road in Stanford, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

An initial investigation suggests the operator of a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer left the roadway and struck a tree. After striking the tree the vehicle caught fire. The fire spread to a nearby house and was extinguished by Stanfordville Fire Department, state police said.

The two front seat occupants of the vehicle were pronounced deceased on scene. A third occupant was airlifted to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, said Hicks.

The occupants have been identified as a 35-year-old man, a 46-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman. Their names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

An occupant in the home was not injured and is staying with neighbors.

"At this point, we don't have a lot of information as the investigation is underway," Hick said.
