Yonkers resident Theresa Casey, 59, has pleaded guilty to a felony count of second-degree grand larceny in Westchester County Court on Thursday, District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced, after stealing $246,752 over the span of several years while working for Allan M. Block Insurance Company in Tarrytown.

While working in the payroll department at the insurance company between May 2014 and February 2017, Casey was in charge of payroll. Scarpino said that as part of her responsibilities, she managed payments to insurance agents who were being paid on commission.

In reviewing commission payment records, the company’s owners discovered irregularities, and it was determined that Casey had been improperly paying herself as a commissioned employee in addition to her regular salary. The owners then reported the theft to the Tarrytown Police, who launched an investigation that found the stolen money.

Casey is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 11, when she will face up to six years in state prison.
