ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - A Rockland County man is facing multiple charges after he was found to be driving drunk while in possession of drugs during a traffic stop in Nyack.

Patrol officers from the Orangetown Police Department conducted a traffic stop on 28-year-old Tompkins Cove resident Anthony Albanos, who committed a violation of vehicle and traffic laws at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

During the subsequent stop, police said that officers observed Alabnos to have blootshot and watery eyes, as well as the strong odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath. After consenting, Albanos proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety tests. After being arrested, he was also found to be in possession of concentrated cannabis.

Albanos was transported to Orangetown Police Headquarters, where he was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also cited for inadequate headlights and for driving a vehicle without a proper inspection.

After being arraigned, Albanos was released on his own recognizance and is due back in Nyack Justice Court later this month to answer the charges.
