“Lauren is an amazing daughter who is so loving and generous. She would do anything for anyone,” Lauren Rhein’s friend Karen Contessa wrote on a GoFundMe page created to raise money to help the only child care for her mother.

“She is 26 years old and she needs help,” she wrote.

Rhein and her father had been sharing the responsibility of caring for her mother in their Hackensack home, but because of declining health, her mother has recently been transferred to a nursing facility, the page states.

Rhein’s father has also recently become ill and is no longer able to contribute financially to help with her mother’s medical and living expenses, the page states.

By Thursday evening, nearly $39,000 had been raised via the GoFundMe page to help the family with medical bills and long-term care.

Rhein, a 2009 graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy (IHA) in Washington Township, coached the school’s varsity golf team to a North Jersey, Section 1 title and Big North and Bergen County championships in 2017.
