The Matsiko World Orphan Choir Sings A Song Of Hope

In an effort to spread awareness about world poverty, the choir inspired the audience and challenged them with a new way of thinking. Nearly 20 orphaned children from Liberia, Peru and India shared their stories with the residents of Esplanade at Palisades through a show that many will not soon forget.

Performers and residents gathered in the Esplanade banquet room for the event. WOC made sure to include Esplanade on their concert tour, which has been performing throughout the United States all summer long. The group, which started in 2008, is based out of Kent, Washington and has made significant efforts to share their important message with people from all walks of life.

Matsiko is a Ugandan word for "hope" which can be heard through the children's stories and the inspiring songs they sing.

WOC was created by the International Children's Network, a non-profit organization which provides education opportunities for orphans and high-risk adolescents. WOC uses song, dance and testimonials to bring together disadvantaged children from around the world and share their life stories.

Through events similar to the WOC performance, residents at Esplanade are able to experience a vibrant, social, healthy lifestyle, designed to help seniors enjoy the next chapter of their lives. To learn more about the Matsiko Wold Orphan Choir click here, and to learn more about Esplanade at Palisades, click here.
