NYACK, N.Y. -- Nyack is the place to be this weekend with a full slate of events including chamber organ music, rock 'n roots, Iranian art, a movie about five Turkish sisters, an original play about a 19th-century African-American NYC theatre company, and an epic ice sculpture at Rockland Lake.

Here's a list of what to do, compliments of the Arts Council of Rockland and the Union Arts Center:

Friday:

  • An opening reception from 7-9 p.m. for the Camera Works fine art photo exhibition by six photographers from the tri-state area: Harry Martin, Julie Scholz, Ron Wohlgemuth, Pasquale Leuzzi, Carl Stoveland, and Luis Bruno. Piermont Flywheel Gallery , 220 Ash St.
  • Bill Galanin performs at The Art Café, 9-11 p.m. 65 South Broadway.

Saturday:

  • Where We Are Standing: Contemporary Women Artists from Iran..Exhibit runs through April 24. Wednesday-Sunday 12-6 p.m., at the Hopper House Art Center, 82 N. Broadway.
  • 2016 Knickbocker Ice Festival at Rockland Lake State Park: See the Phoenix rise again from the ice houses along the base of Hook Mountain. 3 p.m., Rockland Lake State Park.
  • "Mustang," at Rivertown Film: An innocent romp with boys on the beach by five free-spirited sisters in rural Turkey. 8 p.m., at Nyack Center, 58 Depew Ave.
  • Cellist Talya Buckbinder and pianist Sasha Clynes perform at the Sparkill Salon in the Union Arts Center. 8 p.m,, 2 Union Street, Sparkill.
  • The African Grove Theater: "The Death of King Shotaway," 8 p.m., Shades Repertory Theater Company, 64 New Main St in Haverstraw.
  • The Nighthawks: Turning Point Cafe, 9 p.m.,468 Piermont Ave., Piermont.

Sunday:

  • Organist Brad Hughley plays Bach, Mendelssohn, Mozart and Vierne. 4 p.m., Grace Episcopal Church, 130 First Ave.
  • William Bruckner captured his hometown of Nyack in oil paints, watercolors, and drawings at The Historical Society of the Nyacks Museum and the Nyack Library. The museum is open Sundays from 1-4 p.m., at 50 Piermont Ave.
  • Is it family junk or a valuable treasure? Come to the Nyack Library from 1-4 p.m. to hear the "what's it worth" from Jon Felz of RZM Fine Arts and Antiques in Pearl River.
